The bombing affected people a lot more than anything else. The people were so freaked out and scared that many had gone to counselors. Psychiatrist Robert Outlaw said that some have guilt by being a survivor. He said that this is similar to how some of the Jews felt after the Holocaust. He said, "It will take a long time to heal." Many of the family members never felt better until they watched and knew that the person who did the Oklahoma Bombing was dead. This also affected the children. People said that children would tell their moms stuff like, "Mom, don't go back down there" according to the article "Dry Holes, Dead Ends." Many people also started going to church. Rev. Don Alexander of the First Christian Church said, "People need to struggle for an interpretation of what happened." This Sunday attendance had doubled at that church to more then 800 people since the April 19 explosion. He also said, "I keep saying that this disaster is not a reflection of God's will."
This is a picture of Anthony Fernandez III with his dog Aspen. Anthony worked with the fire. He was trying to stay away from reporters and put Aspen between him to protect her. Someone took a picture of him though, and the picture traveled world wide and became very famous. People all over the work sent him a clipping of this picture he said.
